Hegman Lake Pictographs

Being a true Minnesotan, I love the winter, so I planned a trip to the northern reaches of the state in the dead of winter. I was lucky enough to have a friend who was willing to come with me, and together we embarked on a winter adventure in Ely. The main focus of our trip was a dogsledding trip across the frozen Hegman lake to view ancient Ojibwe pictographs on the rock. It was really an amazing experience!

Just what you need when it's 40 below - air conditioning! A sled dog named Al. It was so cold my breath froze as it was coming out. A local bar.

My friend Karen was just as frozen. A dead moose surrounded by wolf tracks I claim the moose as my own!
