The Foxloft

Nox (short for Equinox) is an African Large Spotted Genet (Genetta tigrina). Despite their feline-like looks, genets are small members of the Viverridae family, more closely related to civets and binturongs than to cats.
Genets are small, weighing 2-10 lbs, with the males being significantly larger than the females. Large Spotted Genets are native to Africa, and are not endangered.
In captivity, hand-raised genets can make wonderful pets. They are not, however, domesticated - and are not a dog or a cat. They eat a base diet of high quality cat food supplemented with cooked meats, fruits, and vegetables. They are predators and can kill smaller animals in a home - including ferrets. They are fastidiously clean and can be litter trained much like a cat. They seem even more natural about it, with wild genets even taking to litter without guidance. They need a large cage with plenty of space to run, climb, and hide.
