Preacher

Preacher is an afghan hound. His full name is actually "Stormhill-Taza The Gospel Truth". He comes from a long line of champions, but his bite is a bit incorrect so he is a pet only and spends his time sprawling on our comforter instead of making his way around the show ring.

Preacher is an absolute joy to have around. Anyone familiar with sighthounds knows they are not the typical 'dog', and Preacher is no exception! He is sensitive and strong-willed, and always a clown. He bounces when he walks and gets his nose into everything possible. He's still a young dog, about a year and a half as of summer 2007, so his adult coat is still growing in.

Yes, his coat takes a lot of care. Generally I spend about 2-3 hours a week maintaining it, but when it's really muddy outside or we go hiking it can easily take few hours in a single day making sure it is in top shape. Afghans are an amazing breed, but they are not for anyone who doesn't enjoy grooming.
