Meet Vince, the chocolate siamese cat affectionately known as ‘the catblob’. I found Vince at a local shelter, looking very sick and sad - they thought he had gotten into anti-freeze and did not have the resources to treat him. They did not think he would make it through the night, but if he didn’t have a chance, I wanted him to spend his last hours in the comfort of a home. I brought him to my family veterinary clinic and they worked wonders on him! It turned out that he had fatty liver syndrome, most likely from having been someone’s fat housecat, having gotten outside somehow, and being unable to care for himself in the Minnesota winter, having starved nearly to death. Cats can’t process excess fat well, and it basically poisoned him. After surgery, a feeding tube, and months of TLC Vince made a total recovery. He’s about the best cat I could ask for - he doesn’t mind any of the other critters or being pestered constantly by the dogs. He’s very laid back, and his favorite thing to do is perch on top of the couch and not move all day. Or eat. I think if he could do both of those things at the same time he would reach the feline equivalent of nirvana.
